Navigating Video Technology

In this how-to segment, professional audio engineer and videographer Drew Sutherland with soprano Bree Nichols will help you create a professional audition audio-video recording. They will offer advice on making the most of the equipment you have on hand, information about purchasing equipment that best suits your voice type in any price range, plus simple tips on lighting your video and setting up your shot.

Acting on Camera

The current climate in the performing arts requires artists to do what they have always done: adjust and (literally) reframe. In this overview, director Crystal Manich will give you practical tips about acting on camera for audition videos.

Empowering Your Audition

Auditions are like a performance and a job interview all in one! Under the instruction of opera professionals Carol Wilson, Lauren McNeese, and Daniel Bubeck, learn to hone your presentation and find your comfort zone, prepare for auditions, and dress your best.

Becoming Your Own Entrepreneur

Join recent vocal performance graduates Alexandra Johnson and Annie Penner from The Dallas Opera, stage director Derrick R. Brown, and Bree Nichols, D.M.A. soprano and entrepreneur, in a discussion about using your artistic skills to create a career in arts administration, arts management, directing, and more.
